EPA is a forerunner in purchase of green energy in Zachodniopomorskie Province.
EPA is the first company in Zachodniopomorskie Province to buy the EKO Partner 50 package from ENEA. The "green package" is a service addressed to environmentally aware companies willing to contribute to environmental protection.
EPA is a forerunner in development, construction and operation of wind farms in Poland. "Lake Ostrowo" is the third wind farm we completed, following the Zagórze and Puck projects. More projects are in the pipeline. Completion of the wind farm was crowned by the grand opening in Wolin. In 2002 EPA started to pursue the idea to develop the "Lake Ostrowo" Wind Farm. During the next four years all administrative and study works necessary to complete the investment were carried out. By changing the commune's spatial development plan, entering into the interconnection agreement, acquiring the building permit and, finally, signing the power purchase agreement we completed the development of one of the largest wind farms in Poland. Construction works started in November last year. Currently final tests are in progress; we expect to acquire the permission to use by end of October. Kappa, the owner of the wind farm, will commence regular energy production in mid - November as soon as it acquires the license for generation of electricity. During the construction a network of access roads was created, wind turbines were erected and a power grid allowing for connecting the investment to the National Power System was completed. The power line pursues an innovative attitude, following the Investor's care for the environment - the 110 kV power line has been built as a cable line instead of an overhead one. The Wind Farm comprises of 17 wind turbines manufactured by the Danish company Vestas, each with a power of 1,8 MW.
Polish companies were also involved in the construction. Responsibilities for the construction of infrastructure were assumed by SAG Elbud Gdańsk Holding S.A., whereas the roads and foundations were made by MDI Sp. z o.o. The "Lake Ostrowo" Wind Farm significantly improves the condition of the environment. Owing to the energy yield, forecasted at 90 000 MWh/year, the conventional power sector will generate much less atmospheric emissions of gasses and dust. The savings will amount to: carbon dioxide - approximately 81 000 tonnes/year, nitrogen oxides - approximately 242 tonnes/year, dust - approximately 100 tonnes/year. The Polish company Kappa, a subsidiary of the Danish DONG Energy A/S, received support from under the EU's Regional Development Fund. The project is realized within the Sectoral Operational Programme Improvement of the Competitiveness of Enterprises, years 2004 - 2006, Priority 2 Direct Support to Enterprises, Measure 2.2 Support to product and technology competitiveness of enterprises, Sub - Measure 2.2.1 Support to enterprises making new investment. The subsidy from the ERDF amounts to 5.833.671,00 PLN, comprising 3,69% of the legitimate costs. The total Project costs amount to approximately 170 000 000,00 PLN
