MARITIME ELECTRONICS DEPARTMENT - COMMERCIAL VESSELS - NAVIGATION - VDR AND SVDR RECORDERS
Kelvin Hughes' NDR - 2002 Voyage Data Recorder (VDR) is equipment recording the following data:
- Radar image,
- VHF communications,
- Bridge communications,
- Data from navigation instruments, including log, gyro compass, GPS,
- Engine and rudder parameters,
- Bulkhead, watertight and fireproof door status,
- Other.
The number of recorded signals determines the number and type of additional interfaces, therefore the configuration is each time tailored to the specific vessel's needs. VDRs are required for all newly launched vessels larger than 3.000 DWT.

Existing vessels larger than 3.000 DWT must be equipped with Simplified Voyage Data Recorders (SVDRs).
Pursuant to an OEM agreement with Rutter we offer VODA SVDR MKII. In accordance with the requirements, the equipment records the following parameters:
- Radar image or AIS data,
- VHF communications,
- Bridge communications,
- Data from GPS and gyro compass,
- Data from navigation instruments, if available on the bridge in NMEA format,
- Other parameters that must be recorded by VDRs, if available on the bridge in NMEA format.

The Basic system configuration includes:
- Processor panel (DPU),
- Floating or fixe capsule,
- Video module,
- 4 pcs. internal microphones,
- 2 pcs. external microphones,
- Alarm module,
- "Playback" software.
